    After 35 years of dedicated service, a registered nurse at Saline Memorial Hospital was recognized on Wednesday, Oct. 1, with the DAISY Award, one of nursing’s most prestigious honors. Tracy Goodwin has dedicated her entire nursing career to supporting parents during the birthing process as part of the hospital’s labor and delivery department. Payton Mills, the department’s director, said Goodwin’s calming presence has brought reassurance to countless parents and helped create positive birth experiences.

    Parents and other caregivers will have an opportunity to learn about services and products related to pregnancy and childcare during the Beautiful Beginnings Baby Fair at Saline Memorial Hospital from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9. The baby fair is a free, family-inclusive event with games, vendors, a food truck and children’s activities, like face painting, an outdoor water slide sponsored by the Saline County chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and a children’s room with a ball pit and climbing toys for small children.

  • Saline Health System hosts 70th anniversary community celebration

    In honor of its 70th anniversary, Saline Health System is hosting a community celebration in the parking lot in front of the medical office buildings at 1 Medical Park Drive in Benton from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 28. The celebration will include inflatable games, a petting zoo, vendors, food trucks, LED performers from Arkansas Circus Arts and more. Admission, including the games and petting zoo, is free, but the vendors and food trucks will have items available for purchase.

    Some historic grand openings took place in 1955: - The first McDonald's opened in Des Plaines, Illinois. - Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California. - Saline Memorial Hospital opened in Benton, Arkansas. The opening of our hospital may seem small compared to openings of organizations that have turned into huge, international franchises, but it was a much-anticipated moment for the residents of Saline County, who voted to build the hospital by an 8-to-1 majority in 1953.

Facilities with the ArSRH designation are capable of providing time-critical care for stroke patients, including the initial emergency evaluation, real-time stroke assessment through telemedicine as well as thrombolytic therapy administration.
