		Saline Memorial Hospital is an active community partner participating in health fairs, neighborhood and communitywide events, and health-related organizational fundraisers. Additional community support is provided in a variety of ways ranging from free ambulance service at high school athletic events, hosting educational seminars and fairs to memberships in several local Chamber of Commerce and organizational groups.

Volunteers

Volunteering at Saline Memorial Hospital has been a long standing tradition. Our volunteers – students to seniors – work side by side with hospital staff and are involved in almost every department at SMH. As the premier health care facility in Saline County, the hospital volunteer program provides an excellent outlet for community service.

SMH offers volunteer opportunities through regularly scheduled weekly assignments, an annual 8-week summer Junior Volunteer Program (ages 14-18), and Community Service (all adults) for volunteers who wish to assist with special projects or donate pro-bono professional services.

Although volunteers are not required to join the SMH Auxiliary to serve in a volunteer capacity, SMH has benefited greatly from the formation of a volunteer auxiliary. The SMH Auxiliary was organized in 1957 to provide a team of well trained volunteers who support the SMH mission by raising funds to assist the growth and development of new and existing SMH programs and services. Its numerous contributions have touched the lives of hundreds of patients and their families. The Auxiliary has operated the hospital Gift Shop as its main fundraiser, with profits returned to the hospital to purchase needed equipment and services.

The SMH Auxiliary is a member of both the State and American Association of Hospital Auxiliaries and is directed by elected officers serving one-year terms. The Arkansas Hospital Auxiliary Association has top honors to the SMH Auxiliary for its outstanding achievements.

Additional SMH volunteer opportunities currently include assisting with Blood Drives, Health Fairs and Educational forums, the Infant Hat Knitting Program, in addition to the following hospital stations that are permanent workstations:
