The Saline Memorial
Hospital Pharmacy consists of trained healthcare professionals
who work around the clock to optimize medication management in
an effort to ensure safety and positive patient outcomes. The
SMH pharmacy provides services for all inpatient, outpatient
and emergency room services seven days a week. Including
inpatients and outpatients, the pharmacy dispenses over 52,000
doses of medication per month. The pharmacists also provide
pharmacokinetic consultation to physicians and monitor
patients receiving high risk drugs.
Pharmacy provides drug usage evaluations, food-drug
interaction monitoring, patient care inspections, computerized
Medication Administration Records and responds to all code
blues.
SMH pharmacists offer general and diabetes education to
patients by physician request. The pharmacy also provides free
education to coworkers in areas including: Adverse Drug
Reactions, Sterile Technique of IV hood, Medication Errors,
Nursing Orientation and Geriatric Medications.
SMH pharmacists provide an in-service to all nursing students
before starting work. Our pharmacy is a preceptor for the
University of Arkansas College of Pharmacy and accepts
students on a monthly basis.
The SMH pharmacy staff includes pharmacists, certified
pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns, and part time pharmacy
assistants. We are available to coworkers, physicians, and the
community for any medication questions or concern. |
