Behavioral Health: Adult & Geriatric Psychiatry
The Saline Memorial Behavioral Health program effectively treats the unique emotional and health-related needs encountered by adults of all ages. There are two separate inpatient units dedicated to treating adults of all ages: Adult Psychiatry (ages 18 and up) and Geriatric Psychiatry (ages 55 and up).
The SMH Adult Psychiatric unit is a secure, 10-bed, licensed unit that provides acute inpatient hospitalization in a safe, therapeutic environment for patients who cannot be treated safely on an outpatient basis. Treatment in this program is provided by a team of licensed professionals experienced in the assessment and treatment of adults with psychiatric problems. This team provides specialized services under the direction of the attending psychiatrist.
There are many psychiatric illnesses that may impact a senior’s life, such as depression, bipolar disorder, and complications from Alzheimer's or dementia. The SMH Geriatric Psychiatric Unit is a 19-bed licensed unit where we recognize the different needs of the older population and the issues related to aging. These needs are addressed through an individually tailored treatment plan that will offer a variety of daily programs and activities.
Services offered by the SMH Behavioral Health program include:
Physical, Speech & Occupational Therapies
