The Medical Records
Department at Saline Memorial Hospital works hard to plan,
direct, coordinate, and improve the services provided to
patients and medical staff. Medical Record Technicians
assemble patients’ health information to assure all charts and
forms are complete, proper identification and signatures are
listed and all essential data is entered in the computer. The
SMH Medical Records Department communicates directly with
physicians and other health care professionals to clarify
diagnoses or to obtain additional information.
Medial Records provides the following services, while
following federal and state regulations, professional ethics
and meeting the needs of our patients:
-
Maintenance of a unit medical record to serve as a
communication tool among health care providers and a legal
document of the diagnosis, treatment and result of treatment
provided to patients of Saline Memorial Hospital.
-
Storage of health care information in a manner that
preserves the integrity of the information and the
confidentiality of Saline Memorial Hospital patients.
-
Retrieval of information for use in continuing health care
delivery; providing a legal record of health care delivered;
monitoring the quality of care delivered; planning for future
health care delivery needs; providing patient access in
accordance with patient rights; and obtaining optimum
reimbursement for services rendered.
A manager and supervisor oversee the department which is
supported by 22 full time, part time and pool employees. These
individuals have the education or related experience to
fulfill their job responsibilities. |
