Community Involvement
Saline
Memorial Hospital is an active community partner participating
in health fairs, neighborhood and communitywide events, and
health-related organizational fundraisers. Additional community
support is provided in a variety of ways ranging from free
ambulance service at high school athletic events, hosting
educational seminars and fairs to memberships in several local
Chamber of Commerce and organizational groups.
For those experiencing a critical illness, Saline Memorial
Hospital offers intensive care around the clock. We treat
critical illnesses such as:
cardiac arrest
cardiogenic shock post myocardial infarction
diabetic ketoacidosis
gastrointestinal disorders
pancreatitis
pneumonia
post operative vascular surgery
respiratory failure/respiratory arrest
sepsis/septic shock
stroke
trauma
We are staffed with specially trained critical care nurses
to meet the needs of our patients. Private rooms are
equipped with state of the art equipment such as the cardiac
monitoring system with swan ganz/pressure monitoring
capabilities. Our nursing station is centrally located to
allow for increased patient monitoring. The cardiac monitor
technician is stationed within the Critical Care Unit to
increase patient safety. This allows for consistent
monitoring of the patients along with in house remote
monitoring of the patients’ cardiac rhythm on the general
medical and surgical floors.
We offer in- unit processing and viewing of x-rays for our
physicians. This allows us to meet the needs of patients
quicker and more efficiently. Arterial blood gas analysis is
also in-unit allowing us to obtain critical lab values
quickly to expedite emergent care to the critical patient.
We welcome families in the critical care unit at SMH. We
recognize the need for most patients to have their loved
ones close by when they are ill. Visitation is closed for
shift change report in order to maintain our patient's
medical privacy.
