The
Laboratory is a multi-faceted, multi-dimensional department
of the hospital that provides service to clinicians that
directly aid in the proper diagnosis of patients. The
laboratory provides around-the-clock service. All
technologists are certified in their respective fields. The
Laboratory is accredited by the College of American
Pathologists (CAP) which performs a rigorous survey of the
Laboratory every two years.
The Laboratory consists of six Department Sections:
- Chemistry
- Urinalysis
- Blood bank
- Hematology
- Microbiology
- Phlebotomy
The Lab is responsible for over 1500 different tests
provided either in-house or referenced to another
laboratory. The Laboratory performs over 250,000 patient
tests annually. These test results provide physicians with
the necessary information to diagnose medical conditions,
such as diabetes, heart attack, stroke, cancers, cholesterol
level, acute blood loss, viral and bacterial infection, and
many others. |
