Unfortunately, medical problems may occur and patients can no
longer make decisions for themselves. In these cases,
important treatment decisions have to be made. A Living Will
affects only those types of treatments which, in the opinion
of a doctor, would serve only to postpone the moment of
death by artificially altering a body's function. Examples
of such treatment include: artificial feeding means,
respirators, intravenous fluids and many others. A Living
Will allows patients to specify their wishes in advance and
avoid difficult situations for families.
