Saline 5K Run/Walk to Support Cardiac Health in Saline County


The Saline Memorial Health Foundation and Everett Buick GMC are making plans for the 10th annual The Beat Goes On 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, February 24. Proceeds from the event will help fund a Wellness Park at Saline Memorial Hospital and continue to support the fight against heart disease in Saline County.

“The majority of the people who live in Saline County know someone who will be affected by heart disease,” said Matt Brumley, director of the Saline Health Foundation. “This is a great opportunity to show support for those friends and loved ones.”

“To have the opportunity to be a part of something that will truly enhance the health and wellness of those in our community is very exciting to us,” said Susie Everett, Everett Buick GMC. “It is an honor to be involved with such a great event that brings so many people together and the Wellness Park will be something for all to see and benefit from.”

Participants can win prizes just for signing up. The Foundation is giving away 50 prizes (one each day) leading up to the race on February 24. Winners will be selected at random from the current list of registered participants and will have the opportunity to win Sony headphones, a Fitbit, speakers, gift certificates, new running shoes from Go!Running and more.

“We encourage people of all ages to participate,” said Brumley. “This is a fun event for the whole family and your participation will make a significant impact on the health and well-being of our community.”

The Beat Goes On 5K (3.1 miles), which is a certified course, will start at SMH and will take participants through downtown Benton. This is a chip timed race. Online registration is available at or participants can download a registration form on Pre-registration is $20 or $25 the day of the event. Included in the registration fee is a long-sleeved race t-shirt. “You don’t have to be a runner to participate,” said Brumley. “Come join the fun with your friends as we come together to promote health and make our community a better place.”
