Benton, AR (February 19, 2015) Due to the winter weather this week, the Saline Memorial Health Foundation has rescheduled The Beat Goes On 5K Run/Walk.

“For the safety concerns of all of those who participate, we are postponing The Beat Goes On 5k,” said Matt Brumley, SMH foundation director. “We are rescheduling to Saturday, March 7 and we’re going to pray for better weather.”

This is the 7th annual race sponsored by Everett Buick GMC and Medical Emergency Trauma Associates. All proceeds stay local and benefit cardiac patients and services.

For the first time, the Foundation is offering up a $5,000 prize to anyone who beats the state 5K record. The current state record times for Arkansas are 13 minutes, 57 seconds for men and 16 minutes, 2 seconds for women.

We are proud to support the hospital and promote health and wellness in our community,” said Chad Hendrix, Everett Buick GMC sales manager. “All proceeds from the race stay in Saline County to help enhance cardiovascular services and we at Everett are excited to help make that happen.”

“You don’t have to be a fast runner to participate,” said Brumley. “We have walkers and people of all ages who participate each year. It’s a great way to start the New Year by doing something good for your health.”

The Beat Goes On 5K (3.1 miles), which is a certified course, will start at SMH and will take participants through downtown Benton. This is a chip timed race. Online registration is available at or participants can download a registration form on  Pre-registration is $20 or $25 the day of the event.  Included in the registration fee is a long-sleeved race t-shirt.
